Dear Editor,
I recently had a problem that required me to call on “Robert J. True,” our County Treasurer, to sort things out regarding some land he had transfered some years ago that seemed to have a technical glitch. Having a tax bill I had recently received on my own property close at hand, I called the phone number listed on the bill and asked for “Mr. True.” Much to my shock and chagrin “Mr. J. R.True” personally took my call, listening closely to my concerns he said; “I’ll get on it right away and have D. Vincent Faris (Clermont County Prosecutor) look into it.”
My personal experience in dealing with ‘some’ Government officials in the past, gave me the impressions that I might hear from ‘somebody’ in a week or two, God willing! The speed in which “Mr. True” had “D. Vincent Faris” respond per telephone, was all of “five minutes” literally!
Likewise “D. Vincent Faris,” listened to my concerns and had the same response that “Mr. True” did. “I’ll look into it,” and “I’ll have someone get back to you shortly Ms Combs.” This all happened on a Friday morning, by Monday of the following week, I had a large white envelope from “D. Vincent Faris’” office stuffed in my mailbox.
The information contained therein, came courteous of a “Mr. Marshall McCachran” who is the Assistant to “D. Vincent Paris”. The speed and efficiency of their ‘chain of command,’ not to mention their desire to help an everyday ordinary voter such as myself, really blew my mind. I know that lately many “voters” and citizens of this County, and this ‘Country’ for that matter, have become quite cynical and mistrusting of those people “we” have elected and trusted to handle any business that “the people” might have.
Rather than taking a defensive attitude or brushing me off, I went away from this experience believing that all of these officials were really trying to help me, rather than to hinder me, and ‘heal’ rather than offend. I felt like these ‘gentlemen’ were earning their paychecks, and also my respect. I didn’t have to go through miles and miles of ‘red tape’ or suffer through a litany of excusess. My white envelope was stuffed with everything I had asked for, and then some; my problem was solved. I can’t speak for our nationally elected officials, but our ‘locals’ are “on the ball,” and they are a “well oiled machine,” with a collective of highly effective and efficient men and women who get the job done! It is with sincere gratitude that I would like to publicly acknowledge them, and “thank them” for their service to their County, and their Country.
Signed;
One Happy Voter,
Deborah S. Combs
