Franklin Township Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Chief Brad Moore has secured the Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $75,000.00 to be used for turn out gear. This grant will provide the fire department with much needed new and updated gear. The grant, which is issued through the Department of Homeland Security, and is competitive in nature, is to protect the health and safety of the public and firefighting personnel against fire and fire related hazards.

Chief Moore said that they applied for the grant last year for funds to replace old and worn out gear. in order to receive the grant, the township is required to put up 5 percent of the total award.

Chief Moore said, “We saved the township a substantial amount of money by getting this grant. The gear had to be replaced, so if we didn’t get the grant that money would have had to come out of the budget.”

He went on to say that “the safety of the firefighters has always to been my number 1 priority”. The award of this grant will help keep that promise of safety first, to those that serve as firefighters for the township.
