The Williamsburg Board of Education met on August 10 to discuss matters of business.

During the meeting, the board approved nine business recommendations and 12 recommendations about personnel matters.

The board approved the purchase of a new, 77-passenger school bus for $78,570. The bus was contracted through the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council-School Bus Cooperative purchasing program.

The board also approved the bus routes this year, which have not changed much since last year, said Superintendent Matt Earley.

Board member Sue Madsen was appointed to be the delegate for the Ohio School Board Association annual business meeting. Brent Keeton is the alternate.

A student from Spain will be attending Williamsburg High School for a year, which the board of education also voted on.

The district will be spending $35,262.80 to replace a failed fire alarm panel at the Middle/High school after the board voted yes on it during the meeting.

Some changes were made to the policies and guidelines about program and professional staff after a recommendation from NEOLA, the district’s policy provider. The board approved the changes.

The board also voted yes on recommendations for approving substitutes, new hires, resignations, stipends supplemental positions and salaries, among other resolutions.
