According to Don Sheppard, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter #63 (Clermont County) Deputy Veteran Service Officer, the Chapter had a highly successful Forget-Me-Not Poppy Drive on August 7, 2015, at the Sam’s Club in the Eastgate Square Shopping Center.

A total of $282.13 was raised in donations and all funds collected at Sam’s Club will be utilized for veterans’ services within the State of Ohio. Mr. Sheppard was ably assisted by J.R. Berryhill and James Johnston, all residents of Batavia and members of Chapter #63.

“In addition to distributing the Forget-Me-Not poppies,” Mr. Sheppard commented, ”we also had an opportunity to talk to Clermont County veterans and discuss with them what benefits they earned while serving in the military.”

Another plus for the Drive was inviting eligible veterans to attend Chapter #63 meetings which are conducted on the first Mondays of every month at the Union Township Administrative Complex, on Aicholtz Road.

After attending our monthly meetings and seeing what we do for veterans,” explained the Drive’s Chairman, ”they might be inclined to join our membership in serving other disabled veterans. After all, our Clermont County Chapter was started in 1938 and we have been assisting veterans for over 75 years.”
