An Amelia man is accused of gross sexual imposition and sexual imposition.

David Neal is indicted on two counts. Gross sexual imposition is a felony of the fourth degree and sexual imposition is a misdemeanor of the third degree.

Both counts are from the same indictment, which occurred on June 13. Neal is accused of touching his daughter, who is under 16 years old, Assistant Prosecutor Scott O’Reilly said.

Parents, who were told by their children who are friends of the victim, alerted law enforcement, O’Reilly said.

To be charged with gross sexual imposition with a minor over the age of 13, there has to be force or threat of force, O’Reilly said. If the adult is a parent or guardian, the psychological force is included.

Neal is facing up to 18 months in prison and up to a $5,000 fine. He would also be a tier one sex offender, which means he would have to be registered for 15 years, O’Reilly said.

Neal’s bond hearing was on August 13. His bond was set at $25,000 and he is not allowed contact with the victim.
