Katie Stall
Local educator Katie Stall won the Ohio Association of Career Technical and Adult Education (ACTE) 2015 Outstanding Career Technical Educator in Community Service Award at the annual Connections to Education professional development conference held at the Hilton at Easton on Monday.

Ohio ACTE’s Outstanding Career Technical Educator in Community Service goes to an individual who has made a positive impact on the lives of their students and promoted Career Technical Education (CTE) through their service to the surrounding community. Stall was chosen out of several of nominations statewide.

“Incorporating on the job training is one of the main goals of career technical education,” said Christine Gardner Executive Director of Ohio ACTE. “Ms. Stall is being recognized for serving her community while providing valuable experience to her students.”

Stall is a Veterinary Science teacher at Grant Career Center. Her students are able to experience true vet assisting, ask questions and observe live surgery. Stall works with students, animal rescues, animal hospitals and local veterinarians to make sure that students understand veterinary science and how it affects rescued animals.

The Connections to Education Conference is a three day event held annually for all Ohio career-technical educators. Almost 850 educators and others interested in CTE attended general sessions and informational break out presentations based on their professional development pathway.

Career-Technical Education (CTE) is part of Ohio’s public education system that prepares students for college and careers. In Ohio, CTE is delivered through career centers and comprehensive high schools.

Ohio ACTE represents approximately 2,200 members statewide including superintendents, administrators and teachers.
