On Thursday, July 30, representatives of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will host a public forum to gather feedback on the pilot program for no-wake operation on Acton Lake at Hueston Woods State Park.

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. in the Delmingo Room of the Hueston Woods State Park Lodge, located at 5201 Lodge Road, College Corner, Ohio 45003.

As of June 2014, watercraft powered by more than 10 horsepower were allowed to operate at no-wake speed on Acton Lake in Hueston Woods State Park in Preble and Butler counties.

This new lake management plan was implemented as a pilot program, which has been in an evaluation phase during the 2014 and 2015 boating seasons.

The pilot program is due to end in the fall if a permanent regulation is not adopted by the state.

Public comments and recommendations, along with public safety, recreational opportunities, regional economics and environmental factors, are key components considered during the development of a lake management plan.

People who boated on Acton Lake during the 2014 and 2015 boating seasons are encouraged to attend this public forum and share their experiences.

The ODNR Division of Watercraft’s primary focus is to preserve the unique character of the boating experience on each waterway, while providing the best possible service to the boating public and local communities.

ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all. Visit the ODNR website at ohiodnr.gov.
