Another regular season of Southern Buckeye Athletic Conference high school baseball has come to a close, and to top off another exciting season, the conference held its annual spring sports awards banquet at Hamersville Elementary on May 26, issuing awards to the league champion teams, coaches of the year and First Team all-stars.

In the SBC National Division, Williamsburg and Blanchester finished with league marks of 9-1 to share in this year’s league title.

Receiving the SBC National Division Baseball Player of the Year Award was Williamsburg junior Zack Ward.

Blanchester’s Aaron Lawson received the SBC National Division Baseball Coach of the Year Award.

Among those receiving National Division First Team awards this season were Bethel-Tate’s Tanner Colwell, Clermont Northeastern’s Trey Amann, Patrick Kelley and Brandon Mullins, Felicity-Franklin’s Dominic Ruwe and Williamsburg’s Roger Helton, Austin Horn, Andrew Smith, Zack Ward and Austin Whisman.

Georgetown sophomore Christian Linville and Georgetown junior Mike Winkler were also First Team selections along with five Blanchester standouts, Taylor Greene, Jared Monhollen, Tyler Muncy, Alec Richardson and Daulton Stevens.

Earning SBC National Division Second Team recognition was Bethel’s Austin Bohl, CNE’s Andrew Braley and Kyle Jones, Felicity’s Dakota Gibson, Williamsburg’s Bailey Bach and Austen Park, Georgetown junior Austin Hill and Blanchester’s Derek Barger and Travis Nelson.

In the SBC American Division, it was Goshen claiming the league crown with a 9-1 record.

Goshen senior Jesse Peters was named the SBC American Division Player of the Year, while Goshen’s Mark Reed was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Players earning SBC American Division First Team awards were Amelia’s Jacob Helton, John Meisman, TJ Reed and Darek Vase, Batavia’s Conner Gadbury, Collin Sammons and Ty Wolfe, Goshen’s Noah Billingsley, Kyle Decker, Isaac Hart, Corey Marsh and Jesse Peters, New Richmond’s Dalton Henderson and Steven Wolf, Norwood’s Peyton Williams and Western Brown senior Nick Osborne.

Amelia’s Sam Meisman and Tyler Stewart earned SBC American Division Second Team recognition this season. Joining them on the Second Team were Batavia’s Brandon Frey and Zach Newcomb, Goshen’s Jordan Scott and Keegan Tinkel, New Richmond’s Lane Flamm, Norwood’s Austin Reno and Western Brown’s Joseph Sams.
