To promote community-oriented policing and foster education and understanding between police and the community, the Union Township Police Department is now accepting applications for its 12th Citizens’ Police Academy.

The academy is free to the public and will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on consecutive Tuesday nights from Aug. 18 through Nov. 3. There will be two Saturday classes from 9 a.m. to noon. Classes will be held at the Union Township Police Department, 4312 Glen Este-Withamsville Road.

Applicants must be 21 or older and possess a valid driver’s license. Applicants must submit to a comprehensive criminal history and background check. Criminal convictions may be grounds for exclusion.
