Less than a week before local track and field athletes’ seasons would be on the line at the district tournament, both the Southern Buckeye Conference and Eastern Cincinnati Conference held their annual league meets to determine conference supremacy.

In the SBC, eight Clermont County teams congregated at Williamsburg High School’s new track and field facility on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12 and 13 to duke it out.

The Williamsburg girls and Western Brown boys both repeated in their respective divisions. The Bethel-Tate boys took advantage of their move to the National Division taking home the win and the Western Brown girls completed the Bronco double, winning the American Division girls crown.

The WB girls had the largest margin of victory (31) over defending champions New Richmond (149) in the American Division. Amelia came in third (107.33) followed by Goshen (38.33), Norwood (33.33) and Batavia (7).

The Bronco boys (136) also edged New Richmond for the league title (129.50) with Norwood (78), Goshen (70.50), Batavia (62) and Amelia (45) rounding out the standings.

In the National Division, the Lady Wildcats total (151) was just four points better than runners-up Blanchester (147). The top two teams separated themselves above the rest of the pack, which was headed up by Georgetown at 98 points, followed by Clermont Northeastern (55), Bethel-Tate (54) and Felicity-Franklin (13).

The boys National Division was a run away as the Tigers (146) had a nice cushion between themselves and second-place Blanchester (116). Williamsburg (88), Georgetown (76), Clermont Northeastern (72) and Felicity-Franklin (22) rounded out the National Division season-ending standings.

At the ECC Meet, held at Anderson High School, Glen Este and Milford didn’t manage to take home conference titles as a team although they did have a number of individual champions earning top honors.

On the boys side, Milford came in fifth place out of eight teams scoring 72 points. Loveland took top honors with 145 points. Glen Este came in eighth with 39 points.

On the girls side of things, Milford finished in sixth place (55.5) with Glen Este in eighth (14). Withrow won with a score of 151.

All 10 schools will compete this week across three different divisions for the right to take another step closer to Columbus and Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

In Division I, Amelia, Glen Este and Milford will compete at Mason High School on May 20 and 22. In Division II, Batavia, Bethel-Tate, Clermont Northeastern, Goshen and New Richmond will compete at New Richmond on May 19 and 23. In Division III, Williamsburg and Felicity-Franklin will compete at New Richmond on May 21 and 23.
