The Clermont County Board of Commissioners could issue a proclamation changing the county’s name to “Title Town” after the recent run of success that area high school softball teams have enjoyed.

Just over a week into the spring postseason, six Clermont County high schools found themselves playing for a sectional title and five of those squads cashed in on the opportunity — Glen Este and Milford in Division I, Goshen in Division II, Williamsburg in Division III and Felicity-Franklin in Division IV.

While all of the accomplishments deserve their due, the most impressive feat belongs to the Lady Cardinals of Felicity who captured their sixth consecutive sectional title on Tuesday, May 19 in a 10-0 run-rule route of Cincinnati Country Day.

The top-seeded Lady Cardinals played their way through the DIV Cincinnati sectional by virtue of a shaky 2-0 win in the first round over No. 5 Fayetteville-Perry. They backed that up with a 10-0, five-inning romp of No. 6 Seven Hills in the sectional semifinal on May 14 and then issued a carbon copy on Tuesday.

Next for the Lady Cardinals is a Saturday, May 23 match up at Brookville High School against Covington High School, the top seeded team in Sidney sectional.

Perhaps as equally impressive as the Lady Cardinals jaunt through the DIV section was Williamsburg’s domination of their Division III sectional.

The Lady Wildcats played a total of 15 innings in their first three postseason wins over Purcell Marian, North College Hill and Reading while outscoring their foes a combined 32-0.

Burg will play Milton-Union in the district final at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at Tippecanoe High School.

In Division II, things were a bit more difficult for the Lady Warriors of Goshen who needed eight innings to dispatch of McNicholas in the first round, 7-6, on May 12. Two days later, the Lady Warriors beat Indian Hill, 6-2, and on Tuesday, May 19, Goshen needed a come-from-behind seventh inning to clinch their share of the sectional title pie, beating Northwest, 7-6.

Elsewhere in the Division II bracket, New Richmond beat Clermont Northeastern in the sectional semifinals to earn a berth in the sectional final against top-seeded Ross. The Lady Rams took down NR, 10-0 in six innings, to end the Lady Lions’ season.

Batavia also saw their season end in the DII sectional, dropping a first-round match up against Wilmington, 14-1 in six innings.

Finally, in Division I, a pair of Eastern Cincinnati Conference mainstays advanced out of the sectional tournament round in impressive fashion.

No. 3 seed Glen Este handled No. 16 Colerain, 8-1, in the sectional semifinal setting up a meeting with No. 6 Oak Hills in the sectional finals on May 18.

Behind some stellar pitching from senior Brooke Parker, the Lady Trojans advanced past the Lady Highlanders, 2-1.

GE will play Springboro on May 23 at Northmont High School at noon for the right to add a district title to their impressive 2015 résumé.

In the Cincinnati (2) sectional, Milford dropped Turpin, 11-2, on May 13 and Harrison, 3-1, in the sectional final on May 18 to move onto a strong test in the district finals.

The Lady Eagles drew the state’s No. 1-ranked team, Lebanon, in the next round. They will play on Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m. at Lakota East.

Lastly, Amelia, seeded No. 14, lost a heartbreaker, 10-9, to No. 15 Little Miami in the first round of the sectional tournament.
