A-1 Fabricators & Finishers in Batavia is expanding its operations and footprint with a new 50,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

The company, which turns sheet metal into finished products, is currently housed in a 100,000 square foot building at 4220 Curliss Lane. The new building, which is expected to be completed by August, will be located directly across the street.

Kay Construction Company, in Winchester, is the general contractor for the project.

According to Debbie Throenle, Quality Manager for A-1 Fabricators & Finishers, the expansion will cost about $1.5 million. The company did not receive any tax abatements for the project, said Throenle.

“We’re growing our machining center and the areas for our painting services and assembly work,” said Throenle.

“The expansion will provide about 35 additional employment opportunities of specialized and general labor,” Throenle.

A-1 Fabricators & Finishers, a non union company, currently employes about 70 workers. Job applications for the new positions are being accepted. Employment information is available online at www.a1fabricators.com/contact.html.
