The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will host an open house to celebrate the opening of the Zaleski ODNR Complex, a renovation project of the former Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp located at Zaleski State Forest.

“For many years, the CCC program assisted with restorations and improvements to the land that is now Zaleski State Forest and Lake Hope State Park,” said Robert Boyles, ODNR deputy director and state forester. “The camp served as both office and home for some CCC members while they worked on planting trees, as well as creating roads, trails, firebreaks, wildlife ponds, shelter houses and other public facilities.”

Some of the administrative buildings and bunk-style housing facilities have now been revitalized for use as an ODNR complex for the divisions of Forestry, Ohio State Parks, Mineral Resources Management and the ODNR Office of Information Technology.

The open house will take place at the Zaleski ODNR Complex on Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The complex is located at 29371 Wheelabout Road, McArthur, Ohio 45651.
