The Clermont County Park District will have many new offerings for outdoor enthusiasts this summer.

The electricity at Pattison Lodge has been updated, and the kitchen counter and sinks at Harman Cabin will be replaced. According to the park district’s website, almost 22,000 people attended 296 events at these facilities in 2014.

Upgrades to the gazebo area at Pattison Park, a popular wedding site that hosted 140 ceremonies in 2014, will also be made. Stamped concrete will replace the existing paver blocks to help eliminate mud issues and allow chairs to be set up in all weather conditions.

Phase III of the Williamsburg to Batavia Hike/Bike Trail is underway to connect the existing trail to Zagar Road in Batavia Township.

“The trail will increase access to UC Clermont and Clermont YMCA,” said Chris Clingman, Clermont County Park District director.

Other projects are on the horizon.

“The park district purchased the old Sky Valley Golf & Swim on Ten Mile Road in 2014 in partnership with the Clermont County Commissioners and the Clermont County Water Resources Department, with a grant from the Clean Ohio Fund,” said Clingman. “The purchase helps to protect the Clermont County drinking water well field and will eventually provide a space for passive recreation, such as hiking and picnicking in Pierce Township.”

The park district’s summer newsletter, which describes many of the projects and programs, is scheduled to be available by Memorial Day.

The park district is looking for volunteers to help with various projects, including weeding flowerbeds and trail maintenance.
