The YWCA of Greater Cincinnati has received a generous $200,000 gift from the Cincinnati Business & Professional Women’s Retirement Living, Inc. (CBPWRL), who chose to continue their legacy of empowering women by supporting the YWCA’s Domestic Violence Shelter.

An endowment fund will be established, and the income generated will be used for the operational needs of the shelter and housing needs for women as they move from crisis to independent living.

The CBPWRL’s original mission was to provide for the housing needs of working women, and it is fitting that this gift will carry that work forward through the YWCA’s services well into the future.

The YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter provides a safe haven for women and children fleeing abusive and violent situations.

The facility houses 72 women and children nightly and is the only shelter of its kind in Hamilton County, serving nearly 1,000 individuals yearly.

The YWCA also operates the YWCA House of Peace shelter serving women and children in Brown, Clermont and Adams Counties.

In addition, over 17,000 calls are received on the YWCA crisis hotlines for both shelters.

According to Charlene Ventura, “We are so honored and feel proud to carry on the Cincinnati Business & Professional Women’s Retirement Living’s legacy of housing women in need.”
