The entire Batavia Police Department received CPR and AED training on April 21.

The village purchased two AEDs, one for each cruiser, Chief Michael Gardner said. Central Joint Fire and EMS trained the officers.

There have been some incidents in the village over the past couple years where AEDs have been used effectively. Now officers who arrive on scene before EMS can use an AED if necessary, Gardner said.

“It’s just another way we can help out with Fire and EMS,” Gardner said.
