Grant Career Center Public Relations Director Pam McKinney and Science Instructor Nancy Weis celebrate Nancy’s Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award at the OSBA Regional Meeting.
At the recent Ohio School Board Association Southwest Regional Meeting, Grant Career Center science instructor, Nancy Weis, was recognized as the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year! Mrs. Weis was nominated by Pam McKinney because she brings the classroom to life with great projects, experiments and applications to the real world. “There are scavenger hunts to reinforce lessons, trips to the creek to check water quality, painter’s tape mural on the walls to bring body systems to life and the smell of preserved animals floating through the hallway as the students study anatomy through dissections. She goes above and beyond to help students grasp the principles that apply to their career training programs and will help them find success in the working world!”

Mrs. Weis said, “I have always been passionate about science. Our world is bursting with life, mystery and adventure. Everyday it is my goal to find a way to spark curiosity in students, encourage them to explore and appreciate our natural world. All Grant staff share a similar passion for their subjects or career training programs. In this way, collaboration is made easy as we unite to create a truly student-centered atmosphere.”

When asked about her award, Mrs. Weis responded, “I was humbled and very touched to even be nominated. Many of my students congratulated me on the award, and some admitted that they used to hate science, but they enjoy it now. I am happy that I could touch students’ lives in a positive way.”
