Grant Career Center Business Professionals of America Region 13 Competitive Event Participants.
The Grant Career Center Chapter of the Business Professionals of America proved that they were ready to “Imagine, Believe and Become!” in 2014-2015 as they did their best to make their way to this spring’s national leadership conference in Anaheim, California. Fourteen students started their journey by winning 19 competitive event medals in District 13 Regional Competition at Grant Career Center.

Five Medical Information Tech students earned the privilege to represent Grant Career Center at the State Competition in Columbus on March 12 and 13, 2015. Regional winners competing at state level competition are denoted with an *:

Fundamental Word Processing – 1st place – Tori Baker (Bethel-Tate), 5th place – Kennedy Sarver (Amelia); Advanced Word Processing – 3rd place – Caitlyn Wilburn* (Felicity-Franklin); Basic Office Systems and Procedures –4th place – Lexi Martin (Bethel-Tate), 5th place – Haili Donley (Felicity-Franklin); Advanced Office Systems and Procedures –2nd place – Carrie Buckley* (New Richmond); Interview Skills – 1st place – Ally Shook* (New Richmond), 6th place – Kennedy Sarver (Amelia); Advanced Interview Skills – 3rd place – Lexi Martin (Bethel-Tate);

Medical Office Procedures – 1st place – Tori Baker (Bethel-Tate), 2nd place – Ally Shook (New Richmond), 3rd place – Caitlyn Wilburn (Felicity-Franklin), 4th place – Seaira Blake* (Felicity-Franklin), 5th place – Katie Smith* (Felicity-Franklin), 6th place – Maisie Waters (Bethel-Tate);

Administrative Support Team -3rd place – Miranda Berry (Felicity-Franklin), Carrie Buckley (New Richmond), and Elizabeth Pauley (Williamsburg); Information Technology Concepts – 1st place – Nathaniel Hernandez (Williamsburg); Extemporaneous Speech- 6th place – Elizabeth Pauley (Williamsburg); Financial Math and Analysis- 6th place – Ethan McMellan (Felicity-Franklin).

This year, the Information Technology program joined the Medical Information Tech program in Business Professionals of America competition and performed well in open events in the Information Technology field. Nathaniel Hernandez and Ethan McMellan will also be attending the State Leadership Conference and participating in open events as they explore all the options available in the Business Professionals of America organization.

The Grant Career Center Chapter of Business Professionals of America is the youth organization for the Medical Information Tech program at the Career Center and the Information Technology satellite program taught at Williamsburg High School.

Region 13 comprises schools in Adams, Brown, Clermont, Highland and Fayette Counties, and the Forest Hills School District in Hamilton County. Advisors for the program are Mrs. Jana Adams, Ms. Linda Back, and Mr. Brian Akers.
