Batavia Middle School will be raising funds by serving dinner and auctioning off student artwork March 6.

The event, That’s Amoare, will include dinner, a silent auction and live auction of student artwork.

“It’s a fun event because it brings members of our community together,” Sylvia Switzer, Batavia PTO president, said. “Staff, parents, students, administrators and we solicit for corporate sponsors.”

Students from the middle and high schools volunteer to be servers during the events and guests enjoy a dining experience like a real restaurant.

“We train them how to serve,” Switzer said. “It’s a lot like a restaurant atmosphere. We transform the middle school.”

The artwork that is auctioned off during the event includes a variety of pieces the students have completed in groups.

“We have anything from ceramics to recycled pieces,” Switzer said.

The event combines a lot of fun aspects into a fundraiser, she said.

“It gives members of the community a chance to see what we’re doing at the school,” Switzer said. “We always get rave reviews.”

Tickets for the show are $15, or $50 for VIP tickets. A VIP table that seats 10 is $400.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school.
