Clifford Mark Paff, 94, of Upper Deerfield Township, died Feb. 12.

Paff was born on January 29, 1921 in St. Bernard, Ohio and served in the United States Navy from 1942 until he was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer First Class in 1946.  During his tour of service in Honolulu, he met his wife, Bertha, who also served in the Navy.

After he and Bertha were married in 1946, Paff began working as a lineman for the Atlantic City Electric Company.  Before retiring, after 34 years of service, Paff worked for the company as a utility pole inspector.  While working for the electric company, he also operated his own business, Paff’s Cesspool Service.

Paff was an avid fisherman and very fond of dogs, of which he had many, including his favorite companions Chipper and Snicker. For many years he owned a second home in Bay Point, Lawrence Township where he kept a boat on Cedar Creek.  Paff’s family has many fond memories of sitting around a newspaper-covered table, eating blue claw crabs that Paff had only minutes before caught in crab pots he had in the Delaware Bay’s Nantuxent Cove.

Paff is survived by wife Bertha, children JoAnn Hovermann and John (Diane), grandchildren Mark (Sonia) Hoverman, Michael Hovermann, Alexander Paff and Katie Paff, great-grandson Cole Hovermann, sister-in-law Helen Paff and niece Kay Paff.

He was preceded in death by daughter Bertha LaCavera and siblings Frank Paff and Christina Campbell.

A private graveside service to be held at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Memorials to Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
