On May 16, 2015 at Miami Meadows Park in Milford, Ohio, families and local business leaders will join together in the March of Dimes annual Clermont County March for Babies event—the nations oldest walk fundraiser which raises critical funds for research and programs that prevent premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality.

The chairperson for this year’s event is Eric Hunziker, Assistant Vice President of American Modern Insurance Group. “As a business leader, this campaign gives me and American Modern Insurance a unique opportunity to help the community that I love. And as a father and passionate supporter of Clermont County community, I can’t think of a more important cause than our babies,” said Eric Hunziker, who will be asking other local businesses for their support in the coming months. “One in eight of our babies are born premature, and that’s just not acceptable. It takes leaders in our community working together to ensure more moms have healthy pregnancies.”

March for Babies is a fun filled Saturday morning that offers activities for the whole family, continuous entertainment, a “Kids Zone”, and plenty of food. The walk itself is a 3-mile route through the beautiful Miami Meadows Park. People of all ages are welcome and the park is pet, stroller, and wheelchair friendly.

This year’s ambassador family is the Wiesenberger’s from Cincinnati. Their triplets were born 8 weeks early and parents, Jessica and Andy were told to expect the worse. Eve weighed 3 lbs., 5 oz. at birth. She received two doses of surfactant to see if her lungs would react positively. Emma weighed 3 lbs., 9 oz. at birth. She also needed two doses of surfactant to get her lungs working on their own. Ellie weighed 1 lb., 15 oz. at birth. I was told we might have to sacrifice her to save her sisters. Today all three girls are thriving, smiling and happy children.

“Our girls are alive today because of the surfactant therapies developed by the March of Dimes,” said Jessica Weisenberger. “We walk in hopes that the money raised today can help the babies born tomorrow.”

The 2015 Clermont County March for Babies is looking for participants for the event.
