The Clermont County Chamber of Commerce recognized five businesses for their commitment to customers and their innovation Feb. 6.

Auxier Gas, Clermont County Public Library, Grant Career Center, AIM MRO and Mt. Carmel Brewing Company received small business awards this year.

“These awards have been around for 15 years, so we’ve honored around 75 businesses,” John Melvin, director of the Chamber’s Small Business Development Center, said.

Auxier Gas and the Clermont Public Library received the Excellence in Customer Service. The award recognizes a business or organization that has implemented policies that demonstrate a commitment to customers that exceeds expectations.

“We’re very humbled by this,” Doug Auxier said about receiving the award. “It really speaks to the quality of employees we have the fact that they can maintain customer service. Whether it’s a driver or a person who answers the phone, they’re the key.”

Auxier Gas, established in 1946, specializes in supplying propane for residential and commercial purposes such as heating, cooking, and water heating, according to the company’s website.

Chris Wick with the Clermont County Public Library said receiving the award is a great honor and said the library staff is key to making customers happy.

“Staff are almost ambassadors to all of the resources,” Wick said. “It’s really important for people to understand the library offers something for everyone.”

The library began service in 1955 with a book mobile and small office as the first facilities and has expanded to 10 locations throughout Clermont County, according the organization’s website.

Grant Career Center and AIM MRO received the Excellence in Innovation award. The award recognizes an organization that demonstrate unique and inventive practices, products or procedures.

Grant Career Center, located in Bethel, is a school that provides academic, career technical and adult education, according to the school’s website.

AIM MRO offers material management solutions in the aerospace industry, according to the company’s website.

Mt. Carmel Brewing Company received the Emerging Excellence Award, which recognizes a business with entrepreneurial spirit.

Mike and Kathleen Dewey, the owners of Mt. Carmel Brewing Company, said they worked with the Chamber as they turned Mike Dewey’s beer-making hobby into a business that is now Cincinnati’s oldest craft microbrewery in the Cincinnati area.

“We would like to thank the Chamber for this great award,” Mike Dewey said.
