Each Autumn, the Deacons of the Williamsburg First Presbyterian Church choose a deserving organization for the entire church to remember during the holiday season.
For the 2014 holidays, the organization supported by the members of the church was the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.
During the latter part of November and into the middle of December, church members donated various personal care items, small entertainment items such as playing cards and word puzzles, and various other gift packages.
An overwhelming donation came via church members Mr. and Mrs. John Walker whose employer Beiersdorf, Inc. from West Chester, Ohio participated by donating a large quantity of bath and skin care items.
The entire collection was vast enough that an entire pickup truck load was delivered to the Veterans Home the week before Christmas.
As can be expected, the delivery was well received by the home administration and the residents alike, and the joy of helping was a true gift to the congregation.
