Celebrating the Ohio Strong Award are Angie Huebner, Frank Kohstall, Superintendent Lisa Tuttle-Huff, Dexter Hulse, Tobin Huebner, and Engineering Design students Courtney Riggs and Austin Berger.
The engineering department recently had a surprise visit from Frank Kohstall, a regional representative of Treasurer of Ohio, Josh Mandel’s Office. He was out and about during Manufacturing Awareness Month presenting the Ohio Strong Award to people who were promoting manufacturing careers and building a stronger Ohio workforce. Mandel created the Ohio Strong Award “to recognize dedicated men and women across our state who work in these fields that are so vital to our economy”.

Engineering Design Instructor, Tobin Huebner, had been nominated by Dexter Hulse, Manufacturing Program coordinator at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College, for his work with students at Grant Career Center and at UC Clermont College. Dexter recognized Tobin’s devotion to helping students find their passion for careers in engineering and manufacturing in the 18 years that he has been teaching the Engineering Design program at Grant and CAD classes at UC Clermont.

Tobin’s award read, “Your dedication to the education of your students makes you a valuable asset to Grant Career Center and the State of Ohio. For over 18 years you have demonstrated a commitment to innovation, a great work ethic, and high integrity, exemplifying the characteristics of the this award. You are a tremendous role model for your students and exemplify what it means to be Ohio Strong.”

Tobin was surprised and flattered by the award. “It was humbling to receive public recognition for the successes that our students have achieved throughout my career. I love to share my passion for engineering with students and help them find a career that makes them happy.”
