The Williamsburg Board of Education recognized a seventh grade student for his achievements and hard work at their meeting Jan. 12.

Thomas Barth was recognized during Williamsburg Board’s Moment of Excellence for January. Dave Mack, Middle School principal, spoke about Barth.

Barth is well known in the middle school, Mack said. His teachers say that he is inquisitive and hard working. Barth is also good at staying on task in class and making sure that everyone is included in group projects, Mack said.

“I love lunch duty and sometimes it gets tedious and when you need that little stress break, I’ll go up and stand behind Tommy and just listen,” Mack said. Barth is great at making others laugh.

Barth has been on the honor roll for six quarters since he’s been in the middle school. He’s first class in Boy Scouts and is working to be an Eagle Scout, Mack said. He is also the troop librarian.

Barth is a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and enjoys reading, swimming, playing with legos and playing the saxophone.

“Tommy, we appreciate the fact that you’re a multi, extracurricular type of guy. You’re out there shaking and moving and we’re excited to see where you go here,” said Board President Greg Wells.
