Staff report

A woman struck a police cruiser head-on in Miami Township Tuesday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after Erika Singleton, 25 of Milford, got into a head-on crash with Trooper Jason McElfresh, assigned to the Cincinnati Metro Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Singleton was heading east on US 50 when she failed to negotiate a curve to the right, slid left of center and hit the cruiser.

Singleton was driving a 200 white Ford Focus and McElfresh was in a 2012 Dodge Charger Police Cruiser.

Singleton, Singleton’s two children ages 6 and 22 months and McElfresh were transported to Bethesda North Hospital by Miami Township EMS. There were no serious injuries.

Both Singleton and McElfresh were wearing seatbelts. The 6-year-old was wearing a seatbelt, but not in a booster seat. The 22-month-old child was in a child safety seat.

Alcohol was not a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
