Several new businesses have opened or are opening soon in the city of Milford.

City Manager Jeff Wright noted a few, which include a bank and a model home and design center, during the Dec. 15 council meeting.

River Hills Bank will be opening a branch at 301 Main Street in downtown Milford, Wright said.

The bank also has a location on Chamber Drive in Milford.

“They will operate both of those,” Wright said about the bank.

Also, Kurtz Boots has opened at 438 Main Street. It is the only shoe store the city has downtown, Wright said.

The store sells work and western boots for men, women and children.

“I really enjoy the Milford community,” Jason Kurtz, the owner, said. “I thought it had a lot of potential. There is a lot of traffic going through here. I thought it would be a great opportunity for our first boot store in Milford.”

Kurtz Boots started at Trader’s World, Kurtz said. The Milford location is open Monday 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday noon until 5 p.m.

Wright said construction is nearing completion on the new Schumacher Homes model home and design center on Chamber Drive in Milford.

The company has constructed model homes on the site, will have a design center on site, and will employee around 10 people, Wright said.

“We are pleased they picked Milford,” Wright said about the company.

The company will have a ribbon cutting ceremony in the future, Wright said.

UC Health Primary Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony in November, Wright said.

The healthcare office is located at 300 Chamber Drive.

UC Health physicians and a separate tenant, Airrosti, work out of the building.

“They are open and taking patients,” Wright said.

Wright said Quest Community Church has had to delay the opening of the church on Chamber Drive.

“They do still plan to open, but later than expected,” Wright said.
