The Associated Press released its All-State football teams early last week recognizing four Clermont County athletes among the state’s top gridiron performers in 2014.

A media panel from across the state honored Milford’s Ben Greenwell, New Richmond’s Tyler Sammons and Tyler Anderson and Batavia’s KeShawn Foley.

Greenwell, a punter and wide receiver for the Eagles, was recognized as a Division I Special Mention for his work in special teams this season.

The First Team All-Southwest District and All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference selection punted 43 times this season, averaging 37.4 yards per kick — second in the ECC among those with multiple punts.

Greenwell had a season-long of 74 yards against Kings on Oct. 10 and pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line 19 times against just three touchbacks.

As a receiver, Greenwell led the Eagles with 50 receptions and seven touchdowns, both marks that topped the ECC. The senior accumulated 624 yards through the air, good for an average of 12.5 yards per reception.

In Division III, the New Richmond pair of Sammons and Anderson both received Special Mention recognition. Sammons and Anderson worked in conjunction as offensive lineman and running back/quarterback.

Sammons, a two-time All-Southwest District performer, played center and tackle for the Lions and has been recruited by and visited the University of Cincinnati, University of Akron and Purdue University.

Anderson, also a two-time All-Southwest District honoree, was named the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division Co-Player of the Year.

Beginning the season as the Lions’ running back, Anderson made the transition to quarterback midway through the season.

For the year, the senior rushed 321 times for 2,003 yards and 29 touchdowns. At QB, he threw just 23 times, completing 11 passes for 138 yards and a score. Anderson also caught nine passes for 67 yards and another touchdown.

Finally, in Division IV, Batavia quarterback and defensive back KeShawn Foley was named a Third Team All-State selection as a defender.

Foley had 43 solo tackles and assisted on 29 others. He forced four fumbles, intercepted two passes and returned one for a touchdown.

Offensively, Foley was a dual threat leading the Bulldogs in both passing and rushing. The senior threw 158 times, completing 79 passes for 1,221 yards and 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Foley rushed 122 times for 1,059 yards and nine more scores. His 12 total touchdowns led the team.
