Joel Wilson, seated at right, calls bids at an auction at the Clermont County Fairgrounds Oct. 25.
At a large auction held at the Clermont County fairgrounds on Oct. 25 Joel T Wilson was as excited as the day he graduated from Reppert Auction School.

That was in the fall of 1955 but Joel’s experience calling bids began all the way back in 1941 when his father, also an auctioneer, stood Joel on the back of a hay wagon and said, “Ladies an gentleman, my boy is going to sell these curtain stretchers.”

A highlight of Joel’s lifelong experience in the auction business occurred at the age of 14 when he appeared on the television show “What’s My Line,” as the nation’s youngest auctioneer.

Not surprisingly Joel stumped Dorothy Killgallen and the rest of the panel.

Wilson said he is looking forward to completing 60 years of serving Clermont and surrounding counties and has no plans to stop anytime soon.
