American Modern Insurance Group donated money to help with baseball field improvements at Batavia Township Oct. 6.

Batavia Township Administrator Rex Parsons said the township is planning to make improvements to three of the existing baseball fields at the community center, but the improvements are costly.

“American Modern Insurance Group has agreed to help sponsor one of our baseball fields,” Parsons said.

He said it is nice to have businesses in the community that get involved.

Kurt Kiessling, senior corporate counsel for AMIG, presented a check for $2,500 for field improvements to trustees during their Oct. 6 meeting.

“We look forward to a long, prosperous relationship with you all,” Kiessling said.

Trustees thanked Kiessling for the donation. They also unveiled a sponsorship sign for the field.

Parsons said they are hoping to move forward with field improvements for at least one of the fields as soon as possible.

Parsons said the improvements will include new soil and sod for the field.

He said he believes the improvements will cost at least $6,000 per field.

Trustee Jim Sauls said the investment is worth it to improve the conditions of the fields.

Parsons said they are continuing to look for sponsors for the fields to help complete the improvements.
