Jim Gill
Get ready to sing, clap, dance and sneeze along during a visit by award-winning musician and author Jim Gill.

Jim Gill will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the Union Township Branch Library, 4450 Glen Este-Withamsville Road.

Jim Gill’s first recording, “Jim Gill Sings The Sneezing Song and Other Contagious Tunes,” earned him the first of five awards from the American Library Association and he has been spreading music play to families ever since.

After 20 years, Gill is as enthusiastic as ever in his invitation to children, parents and grandparents to sing and play together.

Gill is a musician and author with unique credentials among children’s artists. He is a child development specialist, completing his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play. For this reason, each of his recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult. Anyone who has experienced one of his family concerts knows that rather than performing for the children and parents, Gill leads them to sing and play together.

Gill has released six award-winning CDs of music play for young children that are favorites in family rooms, classrooms and playrooms. He also is the author of two children’s books. His latest recording, “Music Play for Folks of All Stripes,” received an American Library Association award in 2012.

Jim Gill will share with parents and their children when he presents a concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the Union Township Branch Library, 4450 Glen Este-Withamsville Road.
