The Pierce Township Police Department has hired three new patrol officers.

The addition of these officers brings the department back to full strength.

Mark Weitzel was hired in May and is a four-year US Navy veteran with nine years of law enforcement experience working in Norwood and Xavier University.

John Pelcha, a 19-year veteran of the New Richmond Police Department, was hired in June.

Chris Warner, a 16-year veteran of the Mariemont Police Department, was hired in July.

Chief Jeff Bachman welcomed the new officers saying, “It says a lot about the quality of the Department and the community when officers with this much law enforcement experience are willing to leave departments where they’ve invested a large part of their careers. Hiring veteran officers helps the department continue to provide the police services the community expects without the challenges that come from training brand new employees.”
