Tpr. Jeffrey Staples has been promoted to the rank of sergeant by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Academy.

Sgt. Staples will transfer from his current assignment at the Lebanon Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Batavia Post.

Sgt. Staples began his Patrol career in February 1997 as a cadet dispatcher at the Lebanon Post. He began his training as a member of the 131st Academy Class in April 1998.

He earned his commission in October of that year and was assigned to the Jackson Post, where he earned the Criminal Patrol Award twice in 2000 and 2001 and was selected as Post Trooper of the Year in 2002.

In 2003, he transferred to his most recent assignment at the Lebanon Post, where he earned a Criminal Patrol Award in 2004 and 2005 and was selected as Post Trooper of Year in 2013.
