Union Township Trustees awarded a contract to AC&E Advanced Contractors and Estimators to complete pond improvements at Veterans Park during their July 24 meeting.
Administrator Ken Geis said the company was the lowest, most responsible bidder with their bid of $96,800 for the work.
“We received six bids in that process,” Geis said.
Trustees directed Geis to put the project out to bid during their June 12 meeting.
Geis said the pond is in need of repairs including bank enhancement and the addition of a retaining wall.
He estimated that the cost of the project would be around $100,000.
Trustee John McGraw said trustees have received complaints from residents about the condition of the pond and is glad they will be able to make the improvements.
“This has been needed to be done for a long time,” McGraw said.
Trustees voted to award the bid to AC&E Advanced Contractors and Estimators during the meeting.
Geis said they should begin construction by the end of August or beginning of September and should finish the project before the end of the year.
