Edna Early Thomas Chandler, 93, passed away June 24.

She was the family genealogist before she, or most people, even understood the meaning of the word. She started taking notes as a young girl when she visited with those who had served in the Civil War and World Wars. Her genealogical work, done well before the age of the Internet, was an inspiration to all who knew her and many will enjoy and benefit from her laborious research for generations to come.

She was also first life member of Goshen, Ohio Historical Society and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Crown Charlemagne, The Royal Bruce Society, National Huguenot Society, First Families of Tennessee, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, Sovereign and Regal Court Colonial Order of the Crown Family of the Bruce Society in America and many more.

She is survived by her sons James Eldon and Larry Wayne Thomas, grandchildren Tracy Thomas Varner, DeAnn Thomas O’Toole, Brenton Thomas and Chalee Thomas Stevens, great-grandchildren Jack, Nicholas, Benjamin and Miah O’Toole, Ty and Grace Stevens and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Everett and Bonnie Early, siblings Claude, Charles Jr., and George Early, her first husband James Eldridge Thomas and second husband Curtis Wade Chandler.

Edna held them all close to her heart as they held hers close to theirs. As much as we loved you we knew you “loved us more.”

Visitation 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. services June 28 at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Ky. Interment at Davis Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
