To promote community-oriented policing and foster education and understanding between police and the community, the Union Township Police Department announces it has begun accepting applications for its 11th Citizen Police Academy.

The academy is free to the public and will run from 6 – 9 p.m. on consecutive Thursday nights from Aug. 20 through Nov. 6. There are also two Saturday classes, from 9 a.m. to noon. Classes will be held at the Union Township Police Department, 4312 Glen Este-Withamsville Road.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver license. Applicants must submit to a comprehensive criminal history and background check. Criminal convictions may be grounds for exclusion.

Anyone interested can apply online at www.union-township.oh.us or pick up an application at the Union Township Police Department.

The class will be limited to the first 25 successful applicants.
