The Ohio Police and Fire Games are set to begin June 8 in Clermont County.

Clermont County Commissioners presented a proclamation to Sheriff A.J. “Tim” Rodenberg May 28 designating June 8-13 as Ohio Police and Fire Games Week in Clermont County.

Commissioner David Uible said the games will feature more than 30 events throughout the county that will encourage camaraderie among first responders.

“Citizens are encouraged to attend the games,” Uible said.

Rodenberg thanked commissioners for the proclamation. He trained and competed in the games last year and volunteered to host the games in Clermont County this year.

“We are hoping for 500-plus participants,” Rodenberg said about this year’s games.

He said the participants will come from all over Ohio and some from other states and countries.

Rodenberg thanked the county for its support in hosting the games and thanked the visitors bureau.

“The convention and visitors bureau has been very helpful,” Rodenberg said.

Rodenberg said the schedule of events is almost complete and is available on the website. He said the schedule lists when and where each event will be held.

Events include weightlifting, track and field, rifle, basketball, arm wrestling, fishing, canine competitions, and many more.

Rodenberg said an opening ceremony for the games will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at EastGate Mall.

“We hope to see a lot of people coming,” Rodenberg said.

The Ohio Police and Fire Games is an annual event held in Ohio the second week of June each year, according to the website.
