The village of Amelia will be getting a new Wendy’s restaurant near Kroger Marketplace.

Amelia Mayor Todd Hart said the new restaurant will be located beside Facet Jewelry Music and Pawn on an outlot in the Kroger Marketplace shopping center.

“They are planning to close the other two Wendy’s,” Hart said about the other two restaurants in the area.

Hart said the new restaurant will employ around 40 people.

“The Planning Commission did approve their building site plan,” Hart said. “That has been passed by the village and forwarded on to the county level.”

Hart said the Wendy’s will be a new concept restaurant featuring a more modern design as well as monument signage.

“It will be the first one in the area that is ultra-modern built from the ground up,” Hart said.

Hart said the company is hoping to have a groundbreaking for the new restaurant sometime this summer and is hoping to complete the restaurant by winter.
