Two people suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash on state Route 133 in Tate Township at approximately 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.

Both drivers, Nicholas McKeon, 28, of Cincinnati and Jeffrey Coulter, 48, of Bethel were trapped in their cars and had to be extracted by mechanical means. Both were flown by UC Health Air Care helicopter to UC Hospital.

Preliminary investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol indicates that McKeon, driving a silver 2010 Mazda 3, was driving south on Route 133 when he performed an illegal pass in a no-passing zone and struck Coulter’s vehicle, a burgundy 2004 Suzuki Verona, head-on as he crested a hill in the northbound lane.

Coulter’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, according to the OSHP, and alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
