The Pierce Township Police Canine Unit has received a $1,500 grant from the DP&L Foundation to fund its daily operating costs. Dayton Power and Light is proud to partner with communities and organizations that make a difference and improve the quality of life for the residents of southern Ohio. Along with the independent DP&L Foundation, DP&L contributes more than $2 million annually towards making the region stronger, more vibrant and a great place to live and work.

In addition to being one of the largest employers in the area, DP&L believes in being a good corporate citizen. We invest in southern Ohio communities by contributing to programs and organizations that promote excellence in education, encourage economic development and protect the environment.

In the last year, DP&L has contributed more than $22,000 in funding for canine programs at the Manchester and Seaman Police Departments.

“In today’s economic environment any contributions from business stakeholders is appreciated. As the heroin problem continues to ravage our communities it is much harder for smaller agencies to fund canine units in this challenging budgetary environment,” Chief Jeff Bachman said.

Pierce Township currently has one canine unit working in the township consisting of a patrol dog named Razec with his handler Officer Jay Shaw, and has been operating since 2005.
