Rep. Brad Wenstrup was in Clermont County Friday, April 11 meeting with constituents at various events. Among his stops was UC Clermont East, located in the former Ford transmission plant.

Wenstrup was joined by UC Clermont College Dean Gregory S. Sojka, PhD and other college staff as he toured the facility and met with the college’s professors.

Wenstrup said that he is impressed with the results the college is producing.

“They have 60 graduates a year here from the manufacturing program, and they have a 100 percent placement rate,” Wenstrup said. “This is a success. It’s not only helpful for them as students transitioning to jobs, but for manufacturers in the area who have a need for trained employees.”

Among the stops on the tour were the surgical assisting program, physical therapist assistant program, the nursing program, and manufacturing technology.

“In southern Ohio, we have people who want to work,” Wenstrup said. “This is the type of thing we’re looking for. We can cure a lot of ills in our country when people have jobs, and when they can get an education that leads to a job.”
