The Ohio School Boards Association has launched a statewide campaign to highlight the success of public education.

The campaign, Stand Up for Public Schools, seeks to raise awareness about the importance of public education and locally elected boards of education. The statewide effort was launched in coordination with a national campaign by the National School Boards Association to advocate for public schools.

Public schools provide the educational foundation that each and every child needs to go on to college and careers — and succeed in life. Locally elected boards of education are the backbone of public schools; this community ownership safeguards transparency, accountability, and equity and excellence in education for every child.

“Public schools across Ohio and the nation are better than ever — and we want to get that message out,” said OSBA Executive Director Richard Lewis. “School districts and boards of education are dedicated to advancing student achievement and providing innovative instruction to prepare students for an ever-changing, interconnected world.”

To shed light on the success of public education in Ohio, the Stand Up for Public Schools campaign website will feature stories that highlight extraordinary public schools, students and graduates.

The campaign also encourages schools, school leaders, parents and citizens to share their public education success stories with their communities.

The campaign website, www.standupforOHpublicschools.org, includes more details on the campaign and how individuals can get involved and take action to support public schools.
