A mobile home in Goshen Township was destroyed by a fire Jan. 27.

Goshen fire and EMS officials responded to the fire at Lakeshore Estates in the township.

According to Fire Chief Steve Pegram, fire fighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire venting from the front and back of the single-wide mobile home.

“The homeowner was already out of the house but reported one dog was still missing,” Pegram said.

Pegram said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with assistance of units from Miami Township.

Pegram said the home owner was able to save two dogs, but one dog died as a result of the fire.

“The Clermont County Fire Investigation Team conducted a cause an origin investigation and determined that a candle was knocked over, possibly by one of the dogs, igniting a couch in the living room,” Pegram said.

He said the home was a total loss because of the fire, and the family is being assisted by the Red Cross with relocation services.
