The Felicity FFA Food Science team participated in the National Food science and Technology contest that took place at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
Team members include Carley Snider, Sydney Snider, Emily May and Jodi Seale. Winners of the event were announced Friday at the annual awards banquet.
The team placed second out of 33 Food Science teams across the nation. This is the best performance by any teams of the Felicity-Franklin FFA.
The National Food Science CDE is designed to test a student’s basic knowledge of food science and their ability to use this knowledge in practical situations. Each team participated in a timed team development project and every individual on the team took part in a contest involving food sensory and food safety and sanitation, as well as completing a written exam.
The team was given the opportunity to participate in the National Competition by placing first at the State Food Science Competition in February 2013 held at the Ohio State University.
