Eight Clermont County high school wrestling teams took part in the Ohio High School Dual Team Wrestling Tournament on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at sites across Southwest Ohio.

Across three divisions and multiple event sites, teams from Milford, Glen Este, Amelia, New Richmond, Goshen, Clermont Northeastern, Bethel-Tate and Williamsburg competed as a team to advance out of the regional quarterfinals and into the semifinals, which will be held on Jan. 29 at a site to be determined.

Each school has been put into a draw dependent upon divisional breakdown and seeded according to a formula that includes the number of returning state qualifiers and placers, the number of returning district qualifiers and placers, dual records from this season as well as tournament results from earlier this season.

The seeding of teams also impacts the determination the regional dual tournament sites. For local teams, Milford, Glen Este and Amelia competed in Division I at Moeller High School in Sub-Region 8-A.

Seeded No. 4, Glen Este was the top team among the three locals. The Trojans faced Milford, the No. 5 seed. The winner of that match advanced to face either host Moeller, the top seed or the winner of the Walnut Hills/Withrow match if either team was able to knock off Moeller.

Amelia, the No. 7 seed, faced Loveland in their second round matchup for the right to face the winner of No. 3 Sycamore and No. 6 seed Anderson.

In Division II, Region 15, Sub-Region B, Goshen had the highest seed among local teams at No. 5. The Warriors wrestled against No. 4 Wyoming for the right to wrestle the winner of top-seeded host Ross and No. 8 seed Fenwick.

On the other side of the region, New Richmond, seeded eighth, wrestled top-seeded and host Miami Trace in the second round for the right to wrestle the winner of No. 4 Bellbrook and No. 5 Western Brown.

In Division III, all three Clermont County teams are in Region 22, Sub-Region A. Bethel-Tate was given the No. 2 seed and hosted half of the region subsection, which included No. 6 seed Clermont Northeastern.

Bethel wrestled the winner of No. 7 Clinton-Massie and No. 10 Zane Trace in the second round for the right to wrestle either CNE or No. 3 seeded Chillicothe Southeastern.

Williamsburg, the No. 4 seed in Sub-Region 22-A wrestled at Blanchester. The fourth seeded Wildcats wrestled No. 5 Paint Valley in the second round for the right to wrestle the winner of top-seeded Blanchester and the winner of the 8-9 matchup between East Clinton and Wellston.
