Ohio State University Extension Clermont County will host the next Clermont County Safe Communities (CCSC) Coalition meeting on Jan. 16 at the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, 4470 State Route 222, in Batavia from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Coalition meets quarterly to review the county’s traffic fatality report and to plan Safe Communities programming. Safe Communities, a grant funded through the Ohio Department of Public Safety, focuses on decreasing traffic crashes and fatalities by increasing motor vehicle and traffic safety awareness through education and community partnership.

CCSC unites law enforcement agencies, Clermont County Courts, local school representatives, media, and local businesses and organizations, all through a common interest in traffic safety. The Coalition welcomes new members and meetings are open to the public. Other 2014 meetings are April 17, July 17 and Oct. 16. All meetings will be held at the Sheriff’s Office.

CCSC uses grant funds to support local law enforcement, host several large-scale educational events throughout the year, assist with high school programs, and conduct local activities during national traffic safety campaigns such as “Click It or Ticket,” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Ride Smart.”
