The 33rd Annual Amelia Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 8.

The route will proceed from the vacant Kroger parking lot at state Route 125 and state Route 132 in Amelia, to the new Kroger Marketplace at 262 West Main Street Amelia, Ohio 45102.

That is a change from years past, traveling in the opposite direction. The change allows us to stage the participants in one location and to have the opportunity to distribute the awards following the parade, instead of at another date. The parade organizers have thanked Kroger for their support, and believe this will be a special parade this year.

The theme for this year’s parade is ‘An Old Fashioned Christmas.’

Organizers have said they are honored to have State Representative Doug Green as the 2013 Grand Marshall. Green is currently serving his first term at the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 66th District, which includes all of Brown County, as well as southeastern Clermont County.

Green has previously served as the Auditor of Brown County. Green has been a supporter of the Annual Christmas parade through the years.

Along with Representative Green, organizers have said they are extremely honored to have Clermont County resident Joe Whitt participate in the Parade.

Whitt was stationed on the USS San Francisco in Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack Dec. 7, 1941. It is with great respect that his participation is welcomed only a day after the 72nd anniversary of that fateful day.

Mr. Redlegs, official Cincinnati Reds mascot, will participate in the parade this year.

Please plan to attend and support this wonderful family and community tradition.
