Staff report

Milford Exempted Village School District officials will be holding two community forums about their new school buildings this month.

According to a release from the district, the forums will focus on the plans for the new elementary schools that will be replacing Seipelt Elementary and Boyd E. Smith Elementary.

District officials said the Boyd E. Smith school will remain on the same site, and they are reviewing site options for Seipelt on the property on state Route 131 or on the current school lot.

The first community forum will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the cafeteria at Seipelt Elementary to discuss factors that will be considered in determining the site for the new school.

The second forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the cafeteria at Boyd E. Smith to discuss the design and planning process for the new building. Community members will also have time to ask questions and give feedback during this time.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Farrell, board members, and other district and community officials will be present during both community forums.

Construction on the schools is not expected to begin until the summer of 2014.

The forums are open to all school district families and community members.
