A new clothing store, the Fashion Up Boutique, opened July 6 in Mt. Carmel. The boutique sells brand name clothing at discount prices, from size zero to 5x. In addition to clothing, the store also sells scarves, shoes, jewelry, purses, and in-fashion home decor.
“I’ve always wanted a little store,” owner and sole worker Karman Singleton said. “I like doing things locally.”
Some of the brand names represented in the store include Ralph Lauren, Guess, Coldwater Creek, White House Black Market, and others. Despite the high quality of the clothing, Singleton says she tries to keep the prices low.
“I want people to be able to come in and have a boutique experience at bargain prices,” she said.
The store offers a wide variety of styles that Singleton says draws in a wide variety of customers. She said she has had teen girls as well as elderly women shopping in her boutique on a regular basis. Singleton said she already has many regular customers, though the store has only been open a few weeks.
“People come in to get outfits for all sorts of occasions,” Singleton said. “They can find something nice and inexpensive for date nights, work, or weddings.”
Fashion Up Boutique is now accepting consignments. A consignment account is free and pays back 50 percent the price of the consigned item. Singleton said all used items she sells are in near mint condition.
“I like the idea of repurposing and recycling,” she said. “But I still want everything to feel and look new.”
The Fashion Up Boutique is open Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store is closed Sunday and Monday.
