The Clermont County General Health District, Clermont Coalition for Activity and Nutrition, along with the village of Amelia, will be hosting the third annual Family Fun 1 Walk June 1.
“It’s a family-friendly event that shows really how easy it is to be physically active,” Denise Franer, Clermont CAN coordinator and a nurse for the health district, said.
Franer said they are hoping people of all ages will attend the event, which is free for residents.
“It is easy and very do-able,” Franer said.
Franer they will have health screenings at the event, including height, weight and Body Mass Index measurements, a guide to all the places and spaces in Clermont County to be active, and more.
Franer said the Ohio State Extension Office Family Nutrition Program and Wilfert Farmers Market will also be giving a nutritional demonstration at the event.
She said Amelia Mayor Todd Hart was excited to host the event in the village this year.
Hart said he is hoping residents will become more active after attending the event.
“With the obesity rate what it is right now, I think it is a good starting point for people to do our Family Fun 1 Walk,” Hart said. “And from that point continue on to do regular exercise.”
Franer said she expects they will continue to move the event to a different park each year. She said it has been held in Owensville and Batavia.
In addition to the walk, there will be music and drawings for participants including a bicycle, bike helmets, a scooter, a round of golf from Stonelick Hills, Clermont County YMCA memberships, Cincinnati Nature Center passes, and more.
The run will be held at Spencer Shank Park in Amelia. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. June 1, and the run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. The health fair will be held from 8-10 a.m.
